Bio

Ky Miller is a political ecologist and Sociocultural Anthropology PhD student with the University of Pennsylvania's EnviroLab. Ky’s research focuses on the political ecology of extractive infrastructure, with a particular focus on how Indigenous land defense movements in Mexico reject, reimagine, and reconfigure existing environmental governance norms. Prior to beginning their PhD at UPenn, Ky completed a Master of Environmental Science at the Yale School of the Environment, as well as a B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies at New College of Florida. Ky has also collaborated with a wide range of academic, nonprofit, and grassroots entities working at the intersection of human rights and climate justice, including the Yale Center for Environmental Justice, the University Network for Human Rights, Cultural Survival, and WE ACT for Environmental Justice.
