"The Rise of Enlightened Sexism"

Susan J. Douglas is the Catherine Neafie Kellogg Professor ofCommunication Studies at The University of Michigan and a prize-winningauthor, columnist, and cultural critic, and the.  Her book "Where theGirls Are" was widely praised. In her most recent book, "EnlightenedSexism:  The Seductive Message That Feminism's Work Is Done" (HenryHolt, 2010) Douglas continues her analysis of the mixed messagessurrounding women, and the struggle she sees in the media betweenembedded feminism on the one hand and enlightened sexism on the other. And she takes on the myth that women "have it all" and that fullequality for women has been achieved.
