The 12th Annual Goldstone Forum:
"America: Falling Apart, Falling Behind."
Speaker: Edward Rendell
Edward Rendell, C’65, is the former governor of Pennsylvania and the former mayor of Philadelphia. He also served as district attorney of Philadelphia and chair of the Democratic National Committee. Currently, Rendell serves as co-chair of Building America’s Future, an organization devoted to the need for investment in American infrastructure projects. During his tenure as mayor of Philadelphia, Rendell is credited with revitalizing downtown Philadelphia, eliminating its budget deficit without raising taxes and running five consecutive budget surpluses. Rendell served two terms as governor of Pennsylvania (2003-2011) and oversaw a budget of $28.3 billion as the chief executive of the nation’s 6th most populous state. His legislative agenda focused on commonsense political reform and putting progress ahead of partisanship. Through his unprecedented strategic investments, he energized Pennsylvania’s economy, revitalized communities, improved education, protected the environment, expanded access to health care to all children and made affordable prescription drugs available to older Pennsylvanians.
