"A story of decisions, forms, cause and effect in a multi-year sequence of encounters, artworks and friendships of the artist group CAMP, across parts of the Indian Ocean, starting with a fleet of ships passing everyday through what was termed “Somali piracy”.
We outline here a temporal unfolding of artistic form, aesthetico-political choice, ethnographic refusal, new jobs, new friendships and dialogues. These years involved a search for the missing image of the ship's hold, a film driven by music and its floating, mobile-video form, an odd book that was published and another that we chose not to, being invited and then uninvited to exhibitions, all part of a peculiar exploration of the 'Country of the Sea,' and an unhappy ending on one of its border-lands."
