"Jewelry from the Penn Museum Collection"
For 125 years, the Penn Museum has added to its collection of objects from all over the world. Jane Hickman, Editor of Expedition magazine and Special Assistant for Museum programs, focuses on how various assemblages of jewelry came to be part of the Penn Museum collection. She will also provide a closer look at engraved gems from the Sommerville collection, jewelry from the Royal Tombs at Ur, and objects recovered from a rescue excavation at Sitio Conte, Panama. Jane received her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Penn in 2008. In addition to her duties at the Museum, Jane has studied jewelry from Greece, Turkey, and Afghanistan.
