Nick Simpson is an MD/PhD trainee planning to work at the intersection of critical medical anthropology, political economy, and environmental studies to understand health in the context of precarious ecologies. At Southern Methodist University, Nick’s research focused on communalist practices among Indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon and the use of radio as a means of preserving the communal. At SMU, he also worked on the characterization of photoreceptive proteins involved in plant and fungal circadian rhythms.
