Latoya Briscoe is a Benjamin Franklin Fellow in Anthropology and Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to commencing graduate studies at Penn, Latoya worked as a teacher of English language and literature, and researcher on African and other indigenous cultures in Jamaica, her country of birth.

Her work looks at contemporary configurations of citizenship, particularly how people are using technology (digital and otherwise) to forge new civic identities and establish worldbuilding claims outside of the state.
